These are the days of economic slowdown. There are more and more people starting home-based businesses. There are several advantages associated with such businesses; sometimes there may be drawbacks also. Home-based means, you are closer to your family and societal responsibilities. But, you can be successful, if you are organized and productive.

1. Set your priorities: List your tasks in the order of importance, and begin finishing off the urgent ones. By following the list of priorities, and assigning your time based on them, you can ensure that you do no miss out on any task that is important.

2. Plan your day: Plan your day as your day begins. Set goals to be accomplished on that day. It might not be possible to achieve all the goals, but you can at least achieve some. Keep updating your list as you achieve each task.

3. Make Your family Understand: Family pressure is the major reason why most of the home-based businesses fail to succeed. You need to make your family understand that you are at work, though at home. You can set aside some quality time for the family, and avoid family-related pressures at work. Never ever mix work and family.

4. Work Extra Miles: You might have to work harder and longer at the beginning of business to help it grow and stabilize.

5. Avoid distractions: Try to avoid any disturbance like television or radio. You need a peaceful and quiet atmosphere at work.

6. Set aside time for fun: Even amidst a busy day, you can spend a few minutes to refresh yourself. This certainly improves your productivity.

7. Limit Online Time: Internet is a web that can make you get addicted to it. Do not let that happen to you. Cut short your internet time, by keeping a strict schedule for yourself.

8. Multitask: You can get small things done while you go around for big tasks. You can use tips, like making an urgent phone call, while you wait for your pages to print, and so on.

9. Be Bossy: Be bossy on yourself, and do not let yourself be too idle often. Do not let your heart be bored. Demand excellence to yourself.

10. Get Help: Do not be ashamed to get help from friends or family when you need. If you have too much on your plate, you might slip on productivity and qualities, trying to complete everything at one go.
