How Long Does it Take to Grow a Home Based Business?

I'm sure one of the main questions that you may have is, how long does it take to grow a home based business? Well the truth is that it all depends on you and how much effort you're willing to put in. But understand that if you try to rush the process you're not going to get anything done. A person who is wise will take their time to be successful rather than rush into failure. This is exactly what you must keep in mind if you find yourself rushing into things.

When trying to grow a home based business you have to dedicate the time and effort that is necessary to grow it. It will not take a long time for you to do this as long as you stay focus on what you have to do in order to be successful. But thinking that is going to happen overnight and try to make income faster will only slow the process down.

The best way to understand is by looking at a plant for example, a plant will not grow overnight but you will slowly begin to see the growth. As you continue to grow your business you're going to see the different variations of the growth and you will see the results will increase over time.

So the best thing that you can do is to stop asking that question and just simply focus on growing your business. By focusing on growing your business your business will grow it will just take some time.

It all depends on what you focus your energy on so that's why you must focus your energy on doing the right things consistently.

Home-Based Business - 5-Step Fool-Proof Success Formula

If you're looking for a simple process you can follow to build your home-based business, this 5-step formula really does work. While it's simple, it can be difficult for some people to implement because it goes against the grain of what they're used to thinking and doing. Not because the steps are difficult, in contrast they are actually not difficult at all.

However, very often we tend to make things more difficult than they need to be. For example, I realized a few years back that I had a "mindset" that said I needed to work hard to make a living, and that I had to "prove" what I had done to justify being paid for my work. Do you think this got in the way of me finding success easily? You BETCHA!

Do not underestimate the power of your own mindset and your limiting beliefs. They can make what should be simple and easy, downright difficult and next to impossible.

The good news is, "it's all in your head" as they say. Not to be flippant, but do realize that a thought in your head can be controlled by you, and simply by focusing on changing your thoughts, you can change your results.

Yes, it does take practice, but it is not difficult.

So here's your 5-Step Formula.

1) Set Your Intentions

You can do this by creating a vision board, or simply creating goals or setting intentions for the year. If you've already done this, now may be a good time to revisit your vision and goals and update if necessary. Once you are clear about what you want, set an intention that you will achieve it. (Don't worry, you don't need to know exactly how you're going to achieve it.)

2) Make a Plan

To the best of your ability, using what knowledge, creativity and resources you have, map out a plan of action steps you believe will move you toward achieving your vision, and making your intentions your reality. Again, don't worry if you don't have all the answers, be creative, make the best plan you can and go with it.

3) Take Consistent Action

Start implementing your plan. Commit to taking action EVERY SINGLE DAY. Even if some days you only take a small action step. Getting into action is the key here. It creates energy and it is what will help you create success. You can't just sit and wait for success to happen to you. Success is what happens while you're out there taking action.

4) Be Open to Inspired Ideas & Taking Inspired Action

A funny thing happens when you start taking consistent action every single day ... you create energy. And energy attracts like energy. So if you're creating energy around building a successful business and reaching your goals, you will start receiving inspired ideas to help you reach those goals.

Your job is to be open to these ideas (for some people they feel like creative ideas that seem to come out of the blue; for others it means hearing about a person or a class that is exactly what they need to move forward).

The best way to recognize an inspired idea is that it just seems to come to you, and it is totally in line with your intentions. Now, a warning - it may not look anything like your plan. That's okay! It probably is an idea that was outside of your awareness when you created your plan, and that's why it's not IN your plan.

Your job is to ascertain if it can get you to your vision, and if you believe it can (and you will KNOW in your gut - and that is what you need to learn to trust), then your job is to take action on this idea. Even if it's scary, inconvenient, or more expensive than you had planned. If that "little voice" is screaming at you that this is an amazing opportunity or coincidence, PAY ATTENTION! It may not ask you twice!

5) Let Go, Trust, and Let it Come To You!

Once you start taking consistent action on your plan and with your inspired ideas, don't look back! Keep moving forward, knowing you are making the best decisions you can every step of the way, with the knowledge and wisdom you currently have, and whatever happens, is there to serve you.

Know that things may not always turn out the way you think they "should" but that they always turn out in a way that will move you forward if you allow it to. Problem is, when we label things as a mistake or failure, we have instantly closed the door to learning HOW they can serve us. When we don't learn in these situations, we don't move forward.

So there you go, your simple 5-Step Foolproof Home-Based Business Success Formula.

Be careful not to let your mind convince you that it can't be that easy. Because it CAN be, if you let it.

Setting Up a Home Office For a Home Based Business

If you own a home-based business, having an appropriate work space is critical to your productivity. Depending on the nature of your business, your office could be anything from a small computer cart on a closet, to a full room complete with meeting area and library. But whatever you choose, it's important to do some planning prior to buying furniture or storage.
First, clarify your needs. Do you spend a lot of time at the computer, or do you spend more time meeting clients or producing product? If you're a consultant, you may need to bring clients in to your office regularly; this would necessitate having a seating area for two or three people. If you're a writer, you may only need a desk and a comfy chair in a quiet corner. The most important thing is to decide whether you need a full room or not, and where in the house it should go. Generally, a room away from the main flow of traffic is best, and one with good natural light all year is especially good. If you don't have the space to dedicate an entire room (I sure don't!), using a spare bedroom, dining room, or other similar light-use room can work fine.
Second, you need to figure out exactly what type of work will be done. If you write, you may spend most or all your working time at a computer, necessitating the need for a very good desk and chair, and proper storage for a myriad of computer equipment. If you produce hand crafts to sell, you'll likely spend time both on the computer and creating your product, so you'll need a computer workspace and an appropriate production space, complete with storage. If you're a consultant who meets with clients regularly, you'll need a good, clean computer area with a professional, comfortable seating area. These are just examples, but the important thing is to know exactly what will be going on in your office so you can properly furnish and arrange it.
Finally, you need to decide your furniture and storage needs. A large corner computer desk with plenty of shelving and drawers and a comfortable ergonomic chair may be perfect for someone who does a great deal of computer work, and needs to reference books, magazines, or other paperwork regularly. A small computer desk with just enough space for electronic devices, a large work table, and a good chair to use at both would work well for someone who produces their own goods. Storage products are quite varied, with everything from large drawer and shelving units, right down to small fabric boxes and bowls for small items. Make sure you consider what you frequently keep in your office and need to have at hand, and what you use less frequently and thus can be stored away from your workspace.
Setting up a home office can be easy or difficult, depending on how you approach it. It can also be made more difficult and stressful if you don't take the time to plan ahead of making purchases. If you spend some time considering your needs, you can prevent headaches and difficulties down the road when you realize your space just isn't working.

Tips to Succeed in Your Home Based Business

These are the days of economic slowdown. There are more and more people starting home-based businesses. There are several advantages associated with such businesses; sometimes there may be drawbacks also. Home-based means, you are closer to your family and societal responsibilities. But, you can be successful, if you are organized and productive.

1. Set your priorities: List your tasks in the order of importance, and begin finishing off the urgent ones. By following the list of priorities, and assigning your time based on them, you can ensure that you do no miss out on any task that is important.

2. Plan your day: Plan your day as your day begins. Set goals to be accomplished on that day. It might not be possible to achieve all the goals, but you can at least achieve some. Keep updating your list as you achieve each task.

3. Make Your family Understand: Family pressure is the major reason why most of the home-based businesses fail to succeed. You need to make your family understand that you are at work, though at home. You can set aside some quality time for the family, and avoid family-related pressures at work. Never ever mix work and family.

4. Work Extra Miles: You might have to work harder and longer at the beginning of business to help it grow and stabilize.

5. Avoid distractions: Try to avoid any disturbance like television or radio. You need a peaceful and quiet atmosphere at work.

6. Set aside time for fun: Even amidst a busy day, you can spend a few minutes to refresh yourself. This certainly improves your productivity.

7. Limit Online Time: Internet is a web that can make you get addicted to it. Do not let that happen to you. Cut short your internet time, by keeping a strict schedule for yourself.

8. Multitask: You can get small things done while you go around for big tasks. You can use tips, like making an urgent phone call, while you wait for your pages to print, and so on.

9. Be Bossy: Be bossy on yourself, and do not let yourself be too idle often. Do not let your heart be bored. Demand excellence to yourself.

10. Get Help: Do not be ashamed to get help from friends or family when you need. If you have too much on your plate, you might slip on productivity and qualities, trying to complete everything at one go.

How to Write a Business Thank You Note

One of the best things that you can do to grow your virtual assistant business (or your circle of friends) is to learn the art of writing a thank you note. On a practical level, writing thank you notes is just plain good manners, and people like to be a appreciated. On a more metaphysical level, you get back what you give - -and thank someone is a great way to give.

Usually, there are two things that stop people from writing thank you notes. The first is lack of time or inability to get to the post office to mail the card off. I used to have this problem until I started using Send Out Cards -- a greeting card service that allows you to compose and send real life greeting cards from your computer. Once I signed up, my excuses for not getting cards in the mail evaporated. The system even allows you to use your own handwriting -- and colored ink. Don't go overboard with this -- blue or black are your best bets.

The second (and bigger) reason that people don't send thank you's is that they simply don't know how to write them. Use this 6 point outline and you will be writing your thank you notes with ease.

1. The Greeting

Dear Suzanne,

There, you are off to a good start.... Now, remember to use the person's name. It is amazing how many people forget.

2. Express Your Gratitude

Thank you for promoting my teleseminar as an affiliate.

OK -- this seems easy might be a little tricky. Avoid the "writing" trap. Don't say -- I'm just writing to thank you... Also, don't mention specific cash amounts -- thank you for your generosity works really well for this.

3. Why is it important?

Your hard work as an affiliate helped the teleseminar to get its largest audience to date.

If it is a tangible gift, write about what you love about it. Thank you for the sweater - It is a beautiful shade of teal. Or, the candles you sent match my living room perfectly. Even if you don't love it -- don't lie - find *something* about the gift that is appealing to you.

4. Tie the note into the past and allude to the future.

You have always been one of my top supporters, I am looking forward to working with you in future.

Why did the person help you out or give you a gift? If you see the person frequently or have a regular relationship with them, ou could say something like - "I always enjoy working with you, I 'll call you soon". If it is someone who don't know - try saying something like " you are in my thoughts, I hope that the next year goes well for you".

5. Thanks one more time.

Thanks again for your help.

It's not overkill to say thanks again. So say it.

6. Ending

All the Best,

Meredith

Wrap it up, if you have a standard ending, use it her. Sign your name and you are done :)

What's Not There

Notice there isn't anything there about how your life, or your business or how you are doing. The note is not about you, it is about the recipient and what they have done for you. Even if there aren't a lot of thank you notes sent in your circle, be gracious and set an example.

Home-Based Business and the Recession

This article is for anyone out there thinking of getting into the online business industry, yet is worried that there is no market due to the current state of the economy. The situation is actually quite the contrary... online business is one industry which has been unaffected and continues to grow in the current recession.

Yes, most people are currently more protective of their money, but, more people are also currently out of a job, and are many of them are in debt. With more lay-offs and fewer traditional jobs available, where are people looking for a way out? That's right... the internet. There are currently about 80 million searches daily in North America alone for home-based business related topics.

So yes... there is a market out there. Online business is in fact one of the only industries which hasn't been affected by the recession. With 80 million daily home-based business searches and all the money being spent online, it could be argued that the industry is essentially recession-proof. As a home-based business owner you could be 100% financially independent in a recession-proof industry... with 80 million potential new customers a day, it definitely is a possibility.

There are however also more home-based business scams than ever, so research your options carefully. Do not trust promises of "getting rich quick". Can you make a lot of money faster than you can in almost any other industry? Yes you can, but no company will get you rich quick with little or no effort, so beware of such offers. With the right company and the right attitude however, it is possible to be a success in an industry unaffected by the recession. So, if you're wondering how to escape current economic recession... there's one answer.
